My wife & I acquired the Orchard City/Austin/Eckert sign from your Road shop earlier this summer. It was a bit damaged from suspected rock 'pelting' and was bound for the recycle pile. Thanks to the Road department for their donation after my explanation of why I wanted it. We placed the slightly modified sign in the Watson Lake Sign Post Forest on about August 7th this year on our way to Fairbanks, AK.
The Sign Post Forest is in the small town of Watson Lake, Yukon Territory, Canada. It was started by Carl Lindley, a US Army soldier working on the Alaska Highway in 1942. He originally put up a sign showing direction & distance to his home, Danville, Illinois, and a few others such as major cities in the lower 48 States. Travelers are still adding signs to the collection, which is thought to number over 75,000 today. Many now are merely names & home towns or even lesser signs as evident from the photo. It has become a Territorial Historic Site and excellent tourist attraction. One can spend many hours there and not get bored if they have the time and desire to explore.
